This guide will take you through the steps of preventing others to hotlink content from your website in cPanel. Hotlink protection prevents other websites from directly linking to files on your website. An example of hotlinking would be using a <img> tag to display an image from your site from somewhere else on the net. The end result is that the other site is stealing your bandwidth.
1. Log in to cPanel.
2. Click on “Hotlink protection”.
3. Enter URLs that you would like to allow access. By default, all possible URLs for your domain is listed. If you have other websites that are linking to this one, add them here.
4. Enter the extensions of the files you wish to block from external access.
5. Click on “Submit” at the bottom of the page once you are done.
You should get the message confirming that hotlink protection has been enabled.
